If the kitchen is the heart of the home, then make it a special place: Just add modern, stylish cat kitchen decor. Everyone, including your cats, will know it’s the place to be.

1. Paw Me a Cup Tea Set from ModCloth ($49.99)

ModCloth is one of my new favorite places to shop (for clothes, home accessories, and anything else I happen to find on its website) — and this company does not skimp in the kitty department.

Take this charming “tea for two” set: It was created by Japanese designer Shinzi Katoh, and everything stacks inside one another, making it convenient for carrying and storing. It also makes a cute accent piece when not in use.

2. Meow for Measuring Cups from ModCloth ($34.99)

These adorable ceramic measuring cups — another great cat-themed product from ModCloth — are sure to make cooking more fun.

Each clearly labeled, glazed cup resembles a chubby kitty with tiny paws that sets it flat on the counter, and a curved tail for the handle. Not only do I think they make a perfect addition to the kitchen — they’re much too cute to hide in a drawer.

3. Cat Tao Glasses (set of four) from UncommonGoods ($35)

Known for its creative and unusual gift ideas, UncommonGoods features several sets of cat glasses. I’ve given these cat tao glasses as gifts to fellow cat lovers.

Designed by Patricia Carlin, each glass features a yin and yang image that portrays the duality of our felines. And it’s probably a good idea to heed the feline words of wisdom on each glass: “To obey is to resist,” “To shun is to adore,” “In catnip there is dignity,” “Napping overcomes wrath,” and perhaps the most important one: “The Tao of Cat is to do your thing and leave the kitty alone.”

4. Black and White Cat Mugs (set of two) from Urban Outfitters ($38)

Known for its eclectic mix of unique merchandise, Urban Outfitters’ cat-themed products are no exception. Turn on your Keurig and let the morning java — or tea — wake you up in style.

With their modern feline faces, these mugs are bright and classic, and they’re a great way to sneak some feline style into your kitchen decor.

5. Cat Commands Dishtowel from Anthropologie ($18)

Retailer Anthropologie has long been a source of inspiration for me with its quirky home furnishings. I love this simply illustrated, black-and-white cotton dishtowel. It has vintage appeal, and it makes me snicker every time I see it because the cats clearly need to work on learning their commands — like that will ever happen.

6. Kitty Cat Pattern Tea Towel from Naked Decor ($14)

Supon Phornirunlit, award-winning designer and creative director of home accessories company Naked Decor, continues to include our four-legged friends in his collections with several new stylish pet-themed products for the kitchen.

This charming, 100 percent cotton, hand silk-screened towel caught my eye because of its colorful, retro look — and because I believe there’s no such thing as too many kitchen towels, especially if they have cats on them.
