When I saw photos of Jeff de Boer’s suits of cat armor, I couldn’t believe my eyes — they were so good! But what else would you expect from something that can take as long as 300 hours to make?

Jeff creates metal cat and mouse armor based on different historical eras. While in college, he majored in jewelry design, and that’s when he came up with the idea to make the armor.
“My new skills and small-scale thinking led me to make the connection,” he said.
Jeff also published a book, Jeff de Boer, on some of his favorite pieces — he has made more than he can count. Another individual made some cat armor with a 3D printer and shared the files so anyone can do it, but it’s nowhere near as gorgeous as de Boer’s work.
“I think my customers love the authenticity of my work and that the armor is the ultimate conversation piece. They also love the craftsmanship,” he said.
